Question: You know what's harder than running a marathon?
Answer: Running 2 marathons in the same week... ok, read on please!
This is what caught my attention about Hourglass when I considered my own parents and possibly yours too:
1 in 6 older people (over 65) are victims of abuse. Try to think of as YOUR loved one. I mean YOUR mum, dad, sibling or any other close relationship. This stat scared me and led me to do something since I'm doing these marathons anyway
The abuse might be physical, emotional, financial or in some cases even sexual. The guys at Hourglass have made it their mission to that no older person should be harmed or abused. I could get behind that mission for sure.
Why does this matter to me and why should you support? I was raised by both my parents and have always seen them as heroes and the thought of such harm coming to them breaks my heart. It's funny how time turns tables from parents being our heroes to when we then need to help protect them as they get older.
