December Ascender - 1 hour ladder climb · 23 December 2023

The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong health & wellbeing support for the UK fire & rescue community, empowering individuals and families to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. This includes serving and retired firefighters, control and support teams.

Story

On Saturday 23rd December, the Firefighters at Botley Fire Station will be taking on the December Ascender Challenge in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.

The Fire Fighter's Charity supports the mental, physical and social needs of the UK's fire services. They often deal with life-changing injuries or health related issues and support individuals and families through tough times.

The team consists of: Neil Clayton, Andy Walford, Malc Grendon, Harry Drake, Mike Deans, Alex Milligan and Ian Browning.

Our aim is to climb our 10.5 m ladder as many times as possible within the 1 hour time limit.

Please come cheer us on at Botley Fire Station (Winchester Street, Southampton SO30 2EB) as this truly will be a tough challenge to beat the record. We will be opening the doors of the station at midday for a couple of hours to show how we help our community and eat mince pies. Ladder climb starts at 1pm!

We appreciate it is an expensive time of year, so we appreciate any donation that you are able to make or just your support on the day.
