On Saturday 12th September, Boughton Belles Netball Club will be coming together for our Family Fun Day at Abbey Gate College to celebrate the life of one of our former players, Lydia, while raising money for PMDD (Pre-Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder), a cause that is very close to Lydia's family.

Lydia was part of the Boughton Belles family from the age of 9 until she left for university at 18. She loved every second of her netball journey with Belles, and her commitment, enthusiasm and loyalty made her such a valued member of our community. We wanted to honour her memory in a way that reflects the happiness and friendships she found through netball.

Raising awareness of Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) helps end stigma, reduce delayed diagnoses, and connect affected individuals with life-saving support. PMDD is a severe, hormone-based mood disorder triggered by ovulation, affecting roughly 5% of people with ovaries.

Throughout the day, our players and families will come together for a Netball Festival alongside a Family Fun Day, with a BBQ, bar, glitter and tattoo station, art bus, stalls and plenty of other activities.

Rather than traditional fixtures, each age group will take part in matches or fun netball activities, with players mixed across teams to give everyone the opportunity to meet new teammates and celebrate the sport that Lydia loved so much.

We hope the day will be a fitting celebration of Lydia's life and an opportunity for the whole Boughton Belles community to come together while raising as much as we can for a cause that is particularly meaningful to Lydia's family.
