Story
(Baton of Hope co-founder) Mike McCarthy’s son wrote him a farewell letter. Ross asked his dad to '“Please fight for mental health. The support is just not there.” That was all Mike needed to pick up the baton and devote himself to developing one of the biggest suicide awareness and prevention initiatives the UK has ever seen.
Ross lived with severe depression for more than 10 years and was put on a six-month long waiting list for therapy. He died two weeks into the wait... Please help us fight for better mental health in memory of those we have lost.
*GROUP FUNDRAISER FOR BOXING FOR HOPE KENT*
We are taking part in the Baton of Hope Boxing Event! 🥊
We have signed up for an incredible 8-week charity boxing challenge to raise funds for Baton of Hope UK - the country’s biggest suicide prevention initiative.
Over the next two months, we will be training hard with professional coaches, pushing ourselves both mentally and physically - all leading up to stepping into the ring on November 9th 2025 at the Maidstone Mayhem Show.
Boxing is more than just a sport - it’s a powerful outlet for building resilience, confidence, and community. We are raising awareness and funds for a cause that means a lot to so many.
Please consider supporting us by donating what you can. Every pound raised goes directly to Baton of Hope UK to help save lives and start vital conversations around mental health.
💙 Thank you for your support 💙
Suicide statistics in the UK have stagnated for more than 15 years. It’s time for change.
