Story

The B&Q Supply Team are raising money for Sophia's House (Flutterby Fund), a therapy centre and charity which aims to help children with special needs from low income families access Equine Therapy.

The B&Q team wish to support this charity because of the amazing insights we had to the geat work that they do through a previous B&Q employee. Ben Maloney who as previously a Head of Supply Chain at B&Q has been a Trustee of the charity in the past and his son uses their services regularly.

In July 2024 members of the B&Q Supply Chain team will undertake a formidable 15 mile hike across the Pen-y-Fan mountain in the Brecon Beacons. The hike follows the route used for the official SAS Selection march and is known in the Special Forces community as the Fan Dance.

This will be a huge challenge for all involved 15 miles in length and 4000 feet of elevation. On top of this some members of the group will be hiking carrying a 16kg weighted backpack.

SAS selection criteria requires weighted participants to finish in under 4 hours 10 minutes, most of us are just hoping to finish.
