Blakemore Retail’s Jurassic Coast Executive Challenge 2023!

Following on from the success of the last Blakemore Retail Executive Challenge in 2019, which saw our team complete two days of gruelling Bear Grylls activities and challenges, this year’s event will see the team attempt the mammoth 100km trek along the majestic Jurassic Coastline.

The route will take them through the spectacular World Heritage coastline, starting at Corfe Castle, then heading down to Swanage, and along through Lulworth Cove, past Durdle Door, with ups and downs to Weymouth at halfway. Then for the second leg of the trek they will go past Portland Bill, Chesil Beach, and on to West Bay’s cliffs (of TV’s Broadchurch) before crossing the finish line at the Dorset town of Bridport.

Though on the surface this may sound like an easy coastal walk (in comparison to our previous challenge), this trek will challenge the team’s endurance. Walking for prolonged hours across challenging terrain from coastal paths and steep hills to challenging beaches. Not to mention the addition of the unpredictable British weather!

Day 1 – 13th May 2023

• Start: Corfe Castle

• Start times: 7am – 10am walkers & joggers

• Finish: Weymouth (58km)

• Finish times: walkers 10 – 16 hrs

Day 2 – 14th May 2023

• Start: Weymouth

• Start times: 6.00am for all

• Finish: Bridport (42km)

• Finish times: walkers 10 – 16 hrs

The Blakemore Retail team brave enough to take on this challenge consist of Managing Director - Matt Teague, Store Operations Director - Chris Bacon and Area Managers Jamie Parkman and Deborah Smith.

The team are aiming to raise an amazing £10,000 in total for Blakemore Retail’s longstanding charity partner, the NSPCC. This will go towards the company’s 18 years of partnership, the entire length of a childhood. The monies from this challenge will contribute to Blakemore Retail’s goal of raising £5 million by June 2024.
