Story
On 24th May I’ll be running the Edinburgh Half Marathon in Edinburgh to raise money for AuDHD UK — a cause that is incredibly close to my heart.
I was diagnosed with Asperger’s and ADHD when I was just five years old.
That’s something that has shaped my entire life.
Even with an early diagnosis, growing up wasn’t easy. I’ve spent years feeling misunderstood, struggling to feel heard, trying to fit into spaces that were never designed for people like me, and often feeling like I didn’t truly belong in a world built for neurotypical minds.
Simple things that others take for granted can be exhausting.
Being accepted.
Being understood.
Feeling comfortable just being myself.
Those things don’t always come easily when you’re neurodivergent.
Although AuDHD UK hasn’t supported me personally, the work they do means so much because it represents the kind of understanding, advocacy and community that I know so many people desperately need. They are helping to create a world where people with both autism and ADHD feel seen, validated and accepted — not like they have to mask who they are just to get through the day.
This run is my way of turning my experience into something positive.
Training for a half marathon is a huge challenge for me, both physically and mentally. There are days where everything feels harder, where motivation disappears, and where my brain tells me to stop. But I keep going — because this is bigger than the miles.
I’m running for:
the child who grows up feeling “different”
the teenager who feels like they don’t fit anywhere
the adult who is still trying to be understood
and for a future where neurodivergent people don’t just survive, but truly belong
If you can donate, you’ll be helping AuDHD UK continue their incredible work supporting and advocating for people who so often feel overlooked.
Every share, every message, and every pound means the world to me and will carry me through to that finish line.
Thank you so much for supporting me 💛
