My Three Peaks Challenge for Mind -- In Memory of My Brother Austyn
A few years ago, my world changed forever.
I lost my brother to mental health.
There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think about him — his laugh, his stubbornness, the way he could light up a room without even trying. Losing him left a space that can never be filled, and a silence that still feels heavy. But it also left me with something else: a determination to make sure fewer families go through what mine did.
That’s why I’m taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge.
In just 24 hours, I’ll be climbing:
- Ben Nevis in Scotland
- Scafell Pike in England
- Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in Wales
Three mountains.
Three countries.
One purpose: to honour my brother and support Mind, a charity that helps people facing the same battles he fought.
Why Mind?
Because mental health struggles don’t always look like what people expect.
Because too many people suffer in silence.
Because my brother was one of them.
Mind provides life‑saving support, guidance, and someone to turn to when everything feels impossible. If even one person gets help because of this fundraiser, then every step, every blister, every exhausted breath will be worth it.
Why This Challenge?
The Three Peaks isn’t just a physical test — it’s an emotional one.
It’s long, it’s gruelling, and it pushes you to your limits.
But grief does the same.
Climbing these mountains feels like a way of carrying my brother with me — up every slope, across every ridge, through every moment where I want to stop but don’t. This challenge is my way of turning pain into purpose, and love into action.
How You Can Help
If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, you’ll be helping Mind continue their vital work. You’ll be supporting people who are struggling right now. You’ll be honouring my brother’s memory. And you’ll be walking beside me, step by step, up every mountain.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me make something good out of something heartbreaking.
For my brother.
For everyone fighting their own battles.
For Mind.
