In April 2027, I will be taking on the London Marathon in support of Retina UK.

This cause is particularly close to me because I live with X-linked juvenile retinoschisis (XLRS), a rare inherited retinal condition that affects my vision.

One of the ways my condition affects me is that I am unable to drive, something many people understandably take for granted. Although I am fortunate to live a full, active and independent life, it has helped me understand some of the challenges that can come with sight loss and why support, awareness and research are so important.

Retina UK supports people and families living with inherited retinal conditions while also funding research into future treatments. Their work provides information, support and hope to those affected by these conditions.
