THE NETBALL:

Clear your calendars. Dust off your trainers. Warn your hamstrings.

On Saturday 7 February 2026 🗓️, the greatest late-winter sporting event south of the river returns to Kennington Park for its third year. 🥳🏐

Last year, you helped raise almost £16,000 – money that has already gone directly towards groundbreaking brain tumour trials at UCLH. 🧠🔬

This year? We’re dreaming even bigger. The road to £20,000 🌟.

And we’d love you to be part of it.

Why we’re here

In 2021, our friend Rachel was diagnosed with a grade II astrocytoma 🧠. She underwent awake brain surgery later that year – and while she has recovered well, there is sadly no cure for this type of tumour. When it recurs, treatment options are limited.

So we’re doing what friends do: raising as much money and awareness as humanly possible to support the team at UCLH, where Rachel was treated and where remarkable brain tumour trials are currently taking place.

Every penny raised through this tournament goes directly to the research team led by oncologist Dr Paul Mulholland, whose pioneering immunotherapy trials are offering new hope in one of the most under-funded areas of cancer research.

Your donations make a huge difference 🙏: they have funded groundbreaking brain tumour trials which are up and running and making headlines around the world. Read it: https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/nhs-drug-trial-glioblastoma-brain-symptoms-immunotherapy-b2793453.html

How to be involved 📝

The tournament starts at 9.15am and runs to 12.30pm. We’ll then head to The Red Lion, Kennington for the raffle results and live auction on special prizes. And a refreshing drink. There’s a few different ways how you can support the day.

1. Play in the tournament – £30 playing ticket 🎟️

Netball starts at 9.15am where 12 teams will go head-to-head.

All standards welcome – from seasoned shooters to enthusiastic newbies. Some teams are back defending titles, others seeking retribution and new entries threatening to turn everything on its head.

To join a team or start your own: message Elie McDaniell on 07734 683676.

2. Enter the raffle – £5 per ticket

Over 50 INCREDIBLE prizes 🎁 worth ££££s already confirmed, including:

• Top London restaurant vouchers

• Luxury hotel stays

• Vintage champagne

• Spa and wellness experiences

• Fitness passes, classes and more

You don’t need to attend in person – if your name comes out of the hat, the prize is yours.

For better odds, buy more tickets. Future you will thank you.

3. Donate, cheer, support

If you can’t play, no problem – every donation counts and goes straight to the trials.

For all of it, just hit “Give Now”

And in your comment let us know if you’re:

– A player

– A supporter

– A raffler

📅 Saturday 7 February 2026

🕘 9.15am–12.30pm for netball, pub from 12.30pm onwards

🎉 Spectators VERY welcome

After the final whistle, we’ll stroll to The Red Lion, Kennington for celebratory drinks and the big raffle draw.

🧠 Where your money goes

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer – yet receive only 1% of national cancer research funding. It’s why your support matters so much.

The UCLH trials you funded last year are the most significant progress in decades for glioblastoma – the deadliest form of brain cancer, with a 12–18 month life expectancy.

Dr Mulholland’s work is pioneering the use of immunotherapy as a treatment, building on earlier results that showed extraordinary potential.

Your donation keeps this momentum going.

It funds more patients, more treatment cycles, more lifesaving research.

It gives families hope where none existed.
