Branden's National 3 Peaks Fundraise

National Three Peaks Challenge · 11 October 2024
Hi, I'm Branden!
Myself, and two others will be taking on the National 3 Peaks Challenge on 12/13th October 2024. This challenge entails summitting Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) (1,085m) in 24 hours!
MHA Communities is a national network of community-based support services. They enable people to live later life well by delivering both digital and face-to-face activities in the community, supported through a network of volunteers and paid colleagues. Our services are designed and delivered in partnership with local people so that individuals are more active, more connected and happier within their communities. Older people living within our local communities, whether in their own homes, supported housing and even care homes can feel very isolated and lonely, and this is where we come in!
I think those benefitting from the services can say it best:
“If it wasn't for you to come and help me get out of the house, I couldn't do it on my own I'm all shaking and don't trust my legs without anyone's help”.
"It's quite lovely actually with the different generations, we learn things from them and they get things from us".
"We feel part of the community because the ladies in the activities team 'really do value each member and will go the extra mile to support and help them in addition to the brilliant afternoons they put on'. My mum says to me ' I bet you think we all sit around in a circle and stare into space, we have a great time and laugh a lot, the food is great and they look out for us' ".
I think the quotes above show how grateful our members are to have the services available to them, and therefore highlighting how important it is for them to continue being able to fund these services and to continue developing on what they can offer.
Your donations will go towards funding the following in order to reduce isolation and loneliness and provide early intervention and wider community connections :
- continuation of social engagement and activities (e.g. exercise classes, lunch clubs, day trips, music for wellbeing and tons more)
- befriending
- warm spaces/packages/meals
- engaging technology for people on their dementia journey (robotic pets, interactive tables, music resources)
- advertising/marketing of the services to reach more older people
