Brandon Sutton Legacy Fund

We lost our beautiful, kind, caring and talented son Brandon Sutton on 1st January 2023 in a tragic car accident. Brandon was 18 and in his second year on The Football and Education course with Burton Albion Community Trust and Burton And South Derbyshire College. He loved his football amongst many other things and therefore we are working with St Giles Hospice and Burton Albion Community Trust to ensure that we honour his memory and raise money for a worthwhile and local cause that we know he would have been proud to have been involved in. Also to raise awareness for children and young people experiencing grief and loss. Brandon had hoped to go on and become a football coach, he was a fantastic communicator and was very patient and this combined with his love and passion for football we know would have developed into a very successful career for him.
We wish to support St Giles Hospice and Burton Albion Community Trust to develop a Young Persons Bereavement help point. This project will offer young people across East Staffordshire a safe place to gain support from peers when dealing with loss and bereavement. Working alongside St Giles, the Trust and us as a family aim to spend the next few months developing this offer.
"Brandon's Boxes" have also been developed as a tool to help young people begin to navigate the process of grief. They are comfort boxes containing items such as a hug mug with hot chocolate, grief journal, candle, bath foam and hints and tips on feelings and ways to use the mindful activities either on their own or with family and friends. They also contain signposting and guidance for parent and carers.
We also wish to use any monies raised to help support the roll of Wellbeing programmes in schools across the area. Again these will offer young people a place to talk and share feelings along with helping them develop the skills to deal with every day life and the challenges this can bring.
By doing this we feel we can make sure we leave a powerful and meaningful legacy in our beautiful boys memory.
