So, it’s my 40th this year and having been through so much in life I’d like to do something amazing for it.
One of my biggest life challenges so far was In 2021, when I was diagnosed with Cervical Myelopathy. This meant I had spinal cord compression and my cord was being pinched by my vertebrae causing me a whole heap of issues with my body and it wasn’t functioning properly. I suffered from balance issues, not being able to lift my legs as they felt so heavy, numbness, pins and needles, muscle loss in various places; and also bladder and bowel problems.
I underwent major spine surgery to relieve my symptoms and compressed spinal cord, my surgeon removed 2 of my discs from my cervical spine and replaced them with titanium cages whilst relieving my cord, eventually the surrounding vertebrae all fused together through the cages making a solid fusion.
The operation changed my life, and I’ll never be 💯 % but it doesn’t stop me from smashing my goals.. including running a half marathon last September 👊🏻 I was on my way to losing use of my legs permanently at one point and I’ll be eternally grateful I still have use of them,
Being able to do a skydive is truly amazing and to be able to raise money for charity for doing it makes it even more amazing.
I’d like to do a skydive and raise money for a charity that’s relatable to me, and my chosen charity is the Spinal Injuries Association charity, who support and give help to others who are in the same position I was or worse, and need help and support after surgery.
A part of the money raised will cover the costs of my skydive and the remainder will all go to the charity so the more we can raise the better.
