This is Frida, a widow, mum and grandma living in Dagoretti, an urban settlement in Kenya. She looks after her daughter, twin 13-year-old sons, Eliud and Abiud, and 4-year-old grandson, Quillan. They live in a small metal shelter, share a toilet with other families and have no indoor running water. After the death of her husband in an accident a year ago they struggled to survive but now, thanks Christian Aid’s help, she is learning effective farming techniques to grow vegetables on her small plot of land. She sells the vegetables in the market and is able to feed her family healthy meals.
