Story
In November 2025, I'll be taking on a 500km cycling journey from Vietnam to Cambodia. My fellow cyclists and I will start in Ho Chi Minh City and will be weaving our way through bustling markets, along busy river tracks, through rural villages including vibrant stretch of road before riding out into the Cambodian countryside passing through many small towns finishing in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We should be cycling up to 90km per day, in what can sometimes reach 32 degrees heat involving high humidity. I will also be visiting some of the communities helped by Lendwithcare, a fantastic charity that helps people in the poorer parts of the world work their way out of poverty with their dignities intact, and see for myself the difference a small bit of money lent by people supporting this charity make.
I have cycled a total of 25 miles in 2024 so you can see it is a real challenge for me to get fit enough to cycle 500km through a mix of rough terrain and paved roads in the heat of Asia.
In May 2022 I cycled through Zambia to see some people that have been helped and the difference Lendwithcare made to them.
The effects of drought, climate change and poverty in places that Lendwithcare support don't often make the news , but I have seen on previous trips the difference a little help can make to individuals, families and communities.
