Story

Brian Sloan Memorial Tournament 2025

On Sunday 4th May Brookvale Youth Football Club are holding a Memorial Football Tournament in memory of Brian Sloan Jnr. Many of the Brookvale Community are aware of the roots of Brookvale Football Club, founded by Brian Sloan Snr and Alan Black in 1980 however some may not know the heart ache which hit the club in September 1996 when Brian’s son, young Brian tragically died in a road traffic collision at the young age of 21. Brookvale Football Club at the time was significant in helping Brian’s friends and family deal with the heartache of his loss. To this day the Sloan family are hugely involved with Brookvale Football Club and feel it is only fitting, on the year Brian would have turned 50 years old, to run a tournament and family fun day in his memory with all proceeds going to @Theroadaheadsupportgroup a local charity helping those affected by road traffic collisions.

Teams will play in a 6 aside tournament (8 per team, 6 playing and 2 subs) There will be group stage games, followed by knockout rounds with a Semi-Final and Final Match.

The day will be enjoyed by all ages as we have plenty of family entertainment throughout the day, special guests, food trucks, a raffle and we will finish off the days events in the social club at Newry City where there will be a presentation, refreshments and plenty of craic.
