Story

Alongside a group of Gallagher Re colleagues, I will be attempting to complete the National 3 Peaks 24-Hour Challenge on the 11th June 2025.

We will be raising money for various charities, personal to each of us. The charity I'm supporting is Friends of Oakley who raise money for our son Isaac's school.

The challenge involves climbing (and descending) the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis 1.345m), England (Scafell Pike 978m) and Wales (Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa 1,085m)

We aim to complete the challenge in 24 hours, including both driving time and hiking. The total walking distance is around 23 miles (37 km) with a total ascent of about 3,064 meters.

Isaac is 12. He’s a fantastic boy with a rare condition called Prader Willi Syndrome, which means he has "different needs" - his words. I've included a link for information at the bottom of this page.

Oakley do an amazing job helping children with different needs from the ages of 3 to 19.

The Friends of Oakley is a registered charity and PTA for Oakley School. Oakley school is the district special school for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. All of the pupils have severe and/or complex needs with communication and learning difficulties as a result face additional challenges every day of their lives. The monies the charity raises is vital in enabling us to purchase additional enriching resources, specifically designed to meet the children's needs. As a PTA we help support events like parents evenings and sports days at the school, and also run two main fundraising events during the school year - the Christmas and Summer Fairs. By supporting Friends of Oakley you would not only be helping contribute funds to the school for the use of all of our children, but also allowing parents/carers and families to meet in a relaxed and familiar environment for their children.
