It has always been an ambition of mine to walk from Land's End to John o'Groats. After working for 37 years in IT I was ready to retire and realise my ambition before I get too old! I have spent the last four months pouring over OS Maps and plotting a route that will take me from Lizard Point to Dunnet Head (the southern most to the northern most points on the UK mainland) via Land's End and John o'Groats. My route avoids roads as much as possible and takes in many waymarked trails as I journey north.

I am expecting my adventure to take around 3 months and cover over 1,200 miles during which time I will be carrying all my gear so that I can camp as much as possible on route - I might book the odd night of luxury in a B&B however!

As this is likely to be a once in a life-time journey, I want to make it count by raising some much needed funds for The Trussell Trust.

The Trussell Trust are an anti-poverty charity and support a nationwide network of food banks providing practical support to people who can't afford the essentials, and campaign for a future where nobody in the UK needs to use emergency food to get by.

Their vision is for a UK without the need for food banks.

They say this because it’s not right that anyone cannot afford their own food. That’s why they are working towards a just, compassionate future, where no one should have to use a food bank to get by.

Our vision is ambitious, but we know that if we work together it is possible. We can create a future where nobody goes hungry, because nobody will allow it – when we work Together for Change.
