Story
Hi, I’m Brian Ramirez, and I’m incredibly honored to be part of Team Passage for the 2025 Berlin Marathon! 🏃♂️💙
The Passage's vision is of a society where street homelessness no longer exists, and everyone has a place to call home. Based in the heart of Westminster, The Passage provides practical support and a wide range of services to help transform the lives of people who are, or are at risk of, street homelessness.
I am passionate about this cause because housing justice is deeply personal to me. As a first-generation Mexican American raised in South-East Los Angeles and the Inland Empire (California, United States), I experienced the challenges of housing instability and neighborhood poverty firsthand. Today, I work as a project manager in affordable housing development and am proud to have contributed to the development of over 950 affordable homes for low-income and/or formerly homeless individuals and families.
Running has also become an important part of my journey. Since beginning my running journey in 2022, I’ve set a personal goal of completing all six marathon majors. The Berlin Marathon will be my first major, and I’m thrilled to take on this challenge as part of Team Passage.
The funds raised through this page will directly support The Passage and its mission to:
- Prevent street homelessness by intervening before people reach a crisis point.
- End street homelessness with compassionate and tailored services.
- Advocate for systemic change by amplifying the voices of those experiencing homelessness.
Here’s how your support can make a difference:
£75/$95 could fund a night of emergency accommodation to prevent someone from rough sleeping.
£100/$125 could provide a week of crucial training and supervision for a Mental Health Worker.
£250/$310 could pay for in-depth support from a Domestic Abuse Worker for a client fleeing violence.
£500/$620 could fund a Modern Slavery Navigator for a week, supporting eight clients at risk of trafficking.
£1,000/$1,240 could enable the Resettlement Team to find long-term housing solutions for four clients.
Every gift, no matter the size, empowers The Passage to bring hope and stability to those who need it most.
As part of this fundraiser, I want to keep you engaged and informed every step of the way:
- Regular Updates: I’ll share my marathon training progress, fundraising milestones, and inspiring stories of the impact from The Passage’s life-changing programs.
- Virtual Events and Running Challenges: I’ll be hosting interactive running/fitness challenges and themed virtual events to bring our community together while supporting The Passage’s mission.
I invite you to follow along on Instagram at @brianrezz or reach out via email at brianrezz10@gmail.com for updates, event details, and opportunities to get involved.
Thank you for supporting me, Team Passage, and this meaningful cause. Together, we can take steps toward a future without homelessness.
Let’s do this! 💪
