The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

Our granddaughter, Kaitlyn, who is approaching her 16th birthday, has been diagnosed with cancer. Kate and I are raising money for the Little Princess Trust, a charitable organisation, that generously provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people who have experienced hair loss due to cancer treatment or conditions like Alopecia. Kaitlyn has received a fantastic wig from The Little Princess Trust for which we are grateful. Both Kaitlyn's mother and I have cut our hair and donated it to be used for wigs.

It costs, on average, £700 to provide one wig to a child or young person. This cost covers the making, fitting and styling of the wig.

The Little Princess Trust also plays a vital role in financing research for childhood cancer in the United Kingdom. The charity relies entirely on the generosity and backing of its donors, who make it possible for the organisation to offer not only wigs but also hope to many children and young individuals who are fighting cancer each year.

Kaitlyn is in the first year of her gcse exams , the school have been brilliant but she will likely need some private tutoring in some subjects such as maths to keep fully up to date in preparation for sitting her exams and then getting ready for sixth form in a year and a half.

Kaitlyn is partway through her silver duke of Edinburgh award and plans to continue when she is able , she played badminton after school and is a ferocious reader and longtime Aimee fan, her collectable figures are in the hundred, Kaitlyn is an absolutely awesome artist and draws everyday either free hand of on her I pad, last year the school submitted her work in an exhibition; she is much too humble about her talents.

Kaitlyn was diagnosed two months ago and is receiving chemotherapy treatment at the moment

Kaitlyn was so brave and after refusing the hairdressers suggestion to shave her head as she started to loose her hair, instead she went home as she had promised her dad he could also be part of the process and asked him to first give her a mullet , then a mohawk, then all off, all in the same afternoon, a really brave, brave lead from her.

She has and continues to inspire us with her enormously positive attitude, towards her situation, we are following her lead, we are right behind her all the way.
