Two sisters. One marathon. One incredible cause.

We’re Clare and Kat — sisters, best friends, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners who have spent over 15 years working in the NHS.

Between us, we’ve supported patients, families and colleagues through the highs and lows of healthcare life — and now, we’re taking on the 2026 London Marathon to raise funds for Brighterway, the charity that supports staff and patients across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

We’ve always been close — and running has been a big part of that.

It all started when Clare ran her first London Marathon a year after joining the NHS at 26 and somehow convinced Kat to train with her, even though she wasn’t actually running it! Fast forward 15 years, and the roles reversed — last year, Kat ran the marathon and asked Clare to join her training.

In 2026, we'll be doing it together.

What began as moral support turned into a lifelong love of running — and a lot of coffee stops along the way. Running together gives us time to talk, unwind and keep our mental health in check, which is why supporting Brighterway feels so right.

Brighterway funds the little things that make a HUGE difference — from staff wellbeing projects and patient activities to spaces that help people feel calmer, connected and cared for. As NHS staff, we see firsthand how these small moments matter. We both believe in the power of a hot drink and a chat — sometimes that’s all it takes to lift a day, spark a smile or make someone feel seen.
