Hi, I'm Steve, and I am fundraising for Brighterway by running the London Marathon!

Having been unsuccessful in the ballot at least 5 times, I'm very excited to be offered a charity place to run in April as it'll be a once-in-a-lifetime experience – one on my bucket list.

As this will be my sixth marathon, I know that it takes a lot of dedication, sacrifice and determination to train for marathons.

All the races I’ve run have been enjoyable and I’ve valued the spectator support along the route to keep me going, but the elation and relief of getting over the finish line even more so. Entering races has, for me, been a way of keeping fit both physically and mentally, knowing that the entry fee funds services and projects to make life better for people much less fortunate than myself.

As the London marathon is one of the World Marathon Majors it's a privilege and lifetime event for me to run it. Having worked in the NHS in Hampshire since 1987, I've seen many examples of how Brighterway supports NHS staff to provide care above and beyond that funded by the NHS so I’m proud to be supporting such a worthwhile charity.

Every step I take will be in support of  Brighterway, helping to fund projects that make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of people across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
