Story
I've amended the target to £540, a strange figure you may think?
Well here's why I've gone for this target, this would fund 150 gift packs.
The Lewis Foundation - this is a local charity based here in Northampton, but they support 17 hospitals from Bedford up to Nottingham. I bumped into Lorraine, one of the founders during a Santa Run around Abington Park back in 2016.
The year that they formed and started to provide gift packs for cancer patients in Northampton General Hospital.
These gift packs contain a variety of smaller items that we all take for granted in everyday life - but undergoing treatment for cancer is not everyday life. I'm pretty sure we all know someone who has been affected by this awful illness.
At The Lewis Foundation we source, package and hand deliver gift packs for free to adult cancer patients in hospitals in the Midlands and the community weekly. These are items that patients might find difficult to buy themselves or simply cannot afford – and that brings people happiness and comfort at a difficult time. For many people in hospital and the community, our volunteers are their only regular visitors. We currently provide over 2000 gifts per month to 17 hospitals. People can pick a gift of their choice for free from our gift list.
