Brighton Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·

We believe everyone should have the right to a full and active social life and so we support people with learning disabilities, and autistic people, to fight for the right to party. Our main project is Gig Buddies which matches people up with a volunteer who shares the same cultural passions.

Story

I’m running my first ever marathon in a few weeks!

I’d love to raise some money for the incredible Gig Buddies project, led by the local grassroots charity Stay Up Late.

I only enjoy running if there’s a ball to chase, so this is going to be horrible - FORTY TWO KILOMETRES HORRIBLE. If you’ve got a few quid to spare, it would make it more bearable.

Gig Buddies connects people with learning disabilities and/or autism with volunteers, pairing them up to attend gigs and other cultural events together—all while building a meaningful friendship. This amazing initiative tackles social isolation and empowers people to have control of their social lives.

‘Fighting For Equal Rights to Party’

Donations help cover essential costs like tickets, travel expenses, volunteer training, and tonnes more. It’s really late in the day to start fundraising, so I've only set the target as £250. But I'd love to go beyond that, so please donate if you can.

Thanks all!
