Story
The first splash. The holding of your breath. The echoes of laughter. The wet hair. The lifted spirits. The joy of gliding through water. The smile that lasts all day and night!
As someone with a disability and an adaptive swimmer, fundraising for Level Water is a no brainer.
I believe that everyone, no matter ability or disability, deserves and should have access to swimming lessons. Those with disabilities should have the chance to learn a skill that could save their life.
In 2020 I created the Adaptive and Disabled Open Water Swimmers group to encourage and celebrate swimmers with disabilities and to try and improve access to open water swimming.
Swimming is like nothing else. The skills you develop, the confidence you build and the joys you feel are all universal. Yet access to swimming in the UK is not equal.
At Level Water, they use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities.
Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water like myself and thousands of others have!
