Story
There is a massive mountain to climb when it comes to improving the survivability of brain tumours. 33 people are diagnosed in the UK every day and on average, brain tumours reduce life expectancy by 27 years, the highest of any cancer. Only 12% of adults survive for five years after diagnosis. Despite over £700m being spent on cancer research in the UK every year, less than 3% of it is spent on brain tumours.
The Brain Tumour Charity sits so closely to our hearts as one of our team members has the following story:
My Mum has been diagnosed with brain cancer for just over a year now and it has been the hardest time for all of our lives. She will no longer be able to enjoy everything she worked so hard for, and it has been awful attempting to come to terms with the inevitable. My Mum is the strongest person I know which makes it all the more difficult watching her lose her independence. Finding the words to describe what we’re going through is impossible and all we can do is make the time she has left as enjoyable as possible, it’s what my Mum deserves."
The Brain Tumour Charity is the world's leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. They do phenomenal work to improve both survivability and quality of life for people with brain tumours while offering outstanding support for family and friends. When you or someone you love is diagnosed with a brain tumour - a cure really can't wait.
The Challenge
As a team we're taking on the UK Three Peaks 24 hour challenge in the hope to raise as much money as possible for the charity - any donation big or small is greatly appreciated.
We will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon while driving in between for what will be an exhausting 24 hours. We will be starting on July 16 at 5:00pm and you can follow our progress before the final drive and climb on Monday!
