Bristol Nepalese's fundraiser for Gurkha Welfare Trust

Bristol Nepalese Society is raising money for Gurkha Welfare Trust
The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the leading Gurkha charity. We provide financial, medical and community aid to relieve poverty and distress among retired Gurkha soldiers, their families and their wider communities.

Story

The Gurkha Welfare Trust is the principle British charity provisioning aid to Gurkha ex-servicemen and their dependants in Nepal.

In the late 60's, the number of serving Gurkhas in the British army drastically reduced, leaving many facing destitution in old age. Despite their service in world wars, many did not qualify for a pension due to not meeting the 15-year requirement. This left them without the safety net enjoyed by their British counterparts.

Recognizing the country’s debt of honour to these soldiers, a public appeal led by 8 wartime field marshals raised £1M to establish the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

The trust's mission is to ensure that Gurkha veterans, their widows, and their wider communities are able to live with dignity.

We are fundraising for the cause 'Gurkha Welfare Trust' with a target amount of £1,000 GBP. Your support will make a meaningful difference in providing aid and dignity to these deserving individuals.
