Story
We’re Grant McConnell and Shaun Casey, two Yorkshire lads taking on a fully self-supported journey from the very top of Britain to the very bottom.
Starting at John o’ Groats in the far north of Scotland and finishing at Land’s End on the southern tip of England, we’ll cover around 1,100 miles under our own power, running and walking the entire length of Great Britain.
We are carrying everything we need for our adventure on our backs, including all our camping equipment. We have no support crew, no vehicles, just two lads heading south, one step at a time.
The route includes around 100,000 ft of elevation over some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes Britain has to offer. With typical UK weather, midges, ticks, fatigue, and finding somewhere to sleep each night, this will be a constant test of endurance, resilience, and stubborn Yorkshire determination.
We begin on 18th June, making our way to John o’ Groats by train, bus, and taxi before turning around and heading for Land’s End completely under our own steam.
We’re doing this to raise money and awareness for Marie Curie, a charity that provides vital care and support to people living with terminal illness and their families.
We’ve taken on long-distance running challenges before, but nothing remotely close to this scale. This is Britain end to end, coast to coast, north to south with many ups and downs, both mentally and physically!
If you’re able to support us with a donation, we’d be hugely grateful. And if you spot us somewhere on the long road south, a bit of encouragement, a brew, or even just a “keep going lads” could make all the difference.
Thank you for supporting us and helping us take on Britain from top to bottom for Marie Curie.
--------
We’re raising money for Marie Curie, a charity that has supported close friends of ours during the most difficult times of their lives.
Marie Curie provides expert end-of-life care, practical support, and dignity to people living with terminal illness and the families around them. It’s a level of care that touches far more people than most of us realise, and seeing that support first-hand is what made this challenge feel so important to us.
Every donation helps fund Marie Curie nurses and the vital care they provide when people need it most.
If you’re able to support us, no matter the amount, it genuinely will make a difference.
