Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My husband is working away for 5 weeks, leaving me, unattended with a 4 yr old and 20m old.
However, rather than mope about at home, feeling sorry for ourselves, I’ve decided to take myself and my boys on the adventure of a lifetime….
To cycle the length of the UK.
Over 1,000 miles, two kids, one bike, one trailer and ZERO battery power.
The ride will consist of approximately 39 stages ranging from 15-36 miles starting in the middle of June. I’m expecting it to take around 7 weeks (with rest days), before we finally pedal into John O’Groats, where my husband should be waiting for us at the finish line!
The reason I’m doing this?!..
Because I believe you can do anything you want to in motherhood and I wanted, not only to put my money where my mouth is, but also to experience something monumentally unforgettable with my sons, at our own pace, before my big dude starts school and whilst raising money for an incredible charity that helps so many people navigate their pregnancy and first year of parenthood.
The days will be based around stops to keep the boys happy - think of it like a roadtrip in a car, only rather than stopping at boring old service stations - we’ll be stopping anywhere and everywhere that offers my boys the chance to experience something fun, exciting and a chance to run wild and be free!
The boys are no stranger to a bike seat, with both having had their maiden bike ride, as soon as it was appropriate to do so. And rest assured, our littlest loves a bike so much that he has never shed a tear about getting on the bike, but isn’t too happy when it’s time to get off - “more” he normally demands, much to our amusement!
But why am I raising money for PANDAS foundation?
Because I’ve built a 6 figure community of predominantly women, either already mums, expectant mothers, waiting to be mothers and those who are considering or one the fence about the whole mum thing - and not forgetting the same for the rad dad contingency!
We already know how challenging parenthood can be, but PANDAS foundation exists to support the emotional and psychological wellbeing of individuals through pregnancy and up to their child’s first birthday (perinatal).
PANDAS foundation offers WhatsApp support, a call back service, provides face to face support, online resources and SO much more. Plus they actively campaign for parents/caregivers to reach out at the earliest possible stage so that those in need, can get the right support, at the right time.
They’re entirely funded by donations and grants so you know that every penny raised is put to good use, so what better way to give back than to help a charity that helps so many.
We shouldn’t have to suffer through parenthood, but when we face difficulties, it’s services like those offered by PANDAS foundation that are imperative to helping your parenthood journey move forwards in a more positive direction.
I’ll be sharing updates on my social accounts @britishadventuremum once our wheels have hit the road!
I’m Ro, let’s fk’n GO!
