This year, I’m running the Larking Gowen Half Marathon in memory of my father-in-law, Peter, to raise money for Priscilla Bacon Lodge.

Peter spent a few weeks at Priscilla Bacon Lodge in his final months, where he was given comfort, peace — and even a few whiskeys! The beautiful setting, with its peaceful gardens and welcoming spaces, offered him and our family a sense of calm when we needed it most. The staff not only provided exceptional care, but also created moments of joy through the activities and warmth they shared with patients and families alike.

Many will remember Peter as a local football legend, I often wonder how many accumulative half marathons he must have clocked up over the years from all those games!

So, this run’s for him — for his humour, determination and positive attitude. I’ll be thinking of Peter every step of the way, with a Leeds top on my back!
