Story
I’m running the Autumn Blickling Half Marathon 2026 in honour of my family members and close friends who have been diagnosed with cancer in recent years.
A cancer diagnosis can be earth-shattering, not only for the individual but also for everyone who loves them. Among family and close friends, we have experienced everything from devastatingly short terminal cancer journeys to long, complex treatment plans. What never ceases to amaze me is the extraordinary strength, resilience, and determination shown by those living with cancer.
Every year, more than 8,000 people across Norfolk and Waveney receive the life-changing news that they have cancer. Many more continue to live with the lasting physical, emotional, and psychological effects of their diagnosis and treatment.
Big C provides vital support to people affected by cancer through specialist nurses, counselling, and complementary therapies that help ease the burden of treatment. A donation of just £20 can fund an hour of expert nurse support at one of Big C's dedicated centres, providing reassurance and guidance when it is needed most. A £30 donation can help fund a complementary therapy session, offering relief from some of the side effects of cancer treatment and improving quality of life.
My goal is to raise £150 for this incredible local charity as I take on the Autumn Blickling Half Marathon 2026. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Big C continue providing compassionate care and practical support to people across Norfolk and Waveney.
Throughout every kilometre of my training and on race day itself, I’ll be thinking of those who have faced cancer with courage, determination, and hope. Thank you for supporting both my challenge and the amazing work that Big C does for our community.
