Story
“Hi. I’m Brody, I’m 6 years old, and I’d LOVE to raise some money for the hospital!”.
Brody (supported by his little brother Toby) will be taking part in Airedale Hospital’s CPR-a-thon on Saturday 17th February 2024, at the Morrisons in Skipton.
The event is a collaboration of the Airedale Hospital & Community Charity and the Emergency Department, to raise much needed funds towards the £150k goal, to refurbish the children’s area and paediatric resus within the ED.
Drs and Nurses from Airedale will be at the event from 8am – 8pm, providing 12 hours of non-stop continuous CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), with fundraisers, like Brody, taking part during the day, to practice CPR and keep it up - for as long as his little arms will let him!
If you can support Brody’s pledge to raise money for this event, please sponsor him via his JustGiving page (which is directly linked to the hospital’s event). Brody will also be fundraising in the school ground on Friday 9th February 2024, before and after school, for any loose change you can spare!
Even if you are unable to sponsor, you are welcome to come along with your children, family and friends, on Saturday 17th Feb, and have a go at learning CPR for yourself – you may just save a life one day!
Further Information:
The 12-hour non-stop CPR- a-thon will take place between 8am and 8pm.
We’re joining the doctors and nurses from Airedale Hospital to learn how to give CPR whilst raising funds for the Emergency Department Appeal. The appeal aims to raise £150,000 in 2024 to help to refurbish the paediatric waiting area, the paediatric resuscitation area, and the bereavement facilities, which have become worn after being in use for nine years.
CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is an emergency procedure that consists of chest compressions to a person in cardiac arrest to keep blood pumping around the body until emergency services arrive and can save lives.
If you would like to know more about the CPR-a-thon and how to get involved, please contact the us at ahsft.charity@nhs.net or by telephone at 01535 294870 or you can sponsor our challenge on this page.
