Story
Brody James Wilson
06/07/1997 - 23/06/2026
Brody was the middle child and only son, born in 1997 between an older and younger sister. He threw himself into everything — soccer, nippers, cricket, baseball, basketball, swim club, ballroom dancing, and U16 rugby league with the Charlestown Butcher Boys. He loved his Knights, his Seattle Seahawks, his Lego, his Star Wars, and his wrestling. But more than anything, Brody was the glue.
From the boys he started Kindergarten with to the mates he met at Star Wars conventions around the world, he had a gift for drawing people together and keeping them there. He studied Engineering, travelled overseas, and never missed a Knights home game. Brody always showed up fully for the things and the people he loved.
At 19, Brody was diagnosed with epilepsy after experiencing his first seizure. Over the years, this diagnosis led to hospitalisations at various points, including about a month before he passed. He was in a critical condition after experiencing status epilepticus. He came out of hospital determined. He made real, meaningful changes to his health and routine. His diagnosis never slowed him down and never defined him. We know Brody would not want any other family or person to ever go through this again and that’s why fundraising for this cause is so close to all of our hearts.
Brody has left a ginormous hole in our lives. In his family, his surrogate families across the world, his mates who’ve known him since school, the people he met along the way and in the communities he lit up just by being apart of them. He was a bright light, the kind that once you’ve known it, you never stop feeling the warmth of.
All funds raised in memory of Brody James Wilson will be donated to Epilepsy Action Australia, Australia's oldest and leading epilepsy organisation, supporting people living with epilepsy for more than 70 years.
Today, 1 in 26 Australians will be impacted by epilepsy during their lifetime. Every year, thousands of Australians turn to Epilepsy Action Australia for trusted support, guidance and care. Donations help provide access to specialist clinical support delivered by our Registered Epilepsy Nurses, personalised support services, epilepsy education, seizure first aid training, advocacy and resources that empower people living with epilepsy, their families, carers and communities. Your support also helps fund vital research into better treatments and improved outcomes, while raising awareness, reducing stigma and creating a more inclusive future for everyone affected by epilepsy.
By donating in Brody's memory, you are helping ensure that no one has to face epilepsy alone. Together, we can honour Brody's legacy while creating a future where people living with epilepsy are supported, included and empowered to live their very best life.
