In August 2022 our lives changed forever with the arrival of our beautiful baby. This not only brought with it the normal challenges of becoming a new parent, but a diagnosis of cancer within 24 hours of birth.

We began our journey of learning how to change nappies alongside a less usual regime of chemotherapy and surgeries. During our first visit to the oncology ward in Oxford Children's Hospital, we met a support worker from Young Lives Vs Cancer.

Being completely overwhelmed by emotion, and the fear of the unknown, we were given advice, comfort and financial support from the charity through this tough time. Parking expenses, time off work, microwave meals and extra expenses all add up to additional worry when trying to understand this rare disease and whether or not your child will survive.

YLVC helped us with how to talk to our employers, what government support was available and a friendly face to talk to when things seemed bleak.

I want to go some way to repaying this wonderful charity for all they did to help us, and all they do to help other families through the hardest time in their lives.

To raise money for this incredible cause, I will be donating ALL of my hair, and some of the proceeds of fundraising, to the Little Princess Trust. To mark the milestone of 2 years since our journey began, and to celebrate the successful treatment of our precious little one, I will be shaving my head in August 2024.
