On May 7th, Guy and I are setting off to begin our tandem bike ride from Genoa, Italy to The Lofoten Islands, Norway - raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust in loving memory of Jessica Hope Gauntley.

Jess was a family friend who died aged 16 from a brain tumour. She was kind, adventurous and loved nature.

Teenage Cancer Trust is a fantastic charity that supports young people (13-24) with cancer, by providing them with dedicated staff and facilities in the NHS, as they are otherwise treated in children’s or adult wards. It also runs events for young people to share their experiences, and provides information on living with cancer as a young person. The trust made a real difference for Jess when she was unwell.

Our route will pass through Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We will be cycling unsupported, carrying all our kit on the tandem and plan to camp most of the way. We should complete the journey within 70 days but as we are both the wrong side of 60, have planned intermittent recovery days to rest our knees.

We would both be really grateful for your support - it will help enormously as we toil up hill and on the inevitable rainy days.
