Story
I’m running the 2026 Great North Run for The Miscarriage Association, a charity that is incredibly close to my heart.
In 2023, Andrew and I were overjoyed to learn that we would be adding another little one to our family. After a rocky few weeks at the start of my pregnancy, we were devastatingly told that we had experienced something called a missed miscarriage. It completely broke us, and the impact it had on my mental health was immense.
Before this, I was very naive about miscarriage. I felt completely alone and didn’t know how to talk about what we were going through. I shut myself off from others, believing no one would understand. I then went through a very difficult miscarriage that ultimately ended in surgery, which was both physically and emotionally hard.
I’m running for The Miscarriage Association because I don’t want anyone else to feel the way I did. The charity offers vital support and information to anyone affected by miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, or molar pregnancy, and ensures that people know they are not alone and have somewhere safe to turn.
Most of the charity’s income comes from donations and fundraising by people who have experienced pregnancy loss themselves, or who care deeply about someone who has. By supporting me as I take on the Great North Run, you are helping The Miscarriage Association continue their incredible work, ensuring that everyone affected by pregnancy loss receives the care, support, and information they need, when they need it most.
By running in a bright blue Miscarriage Association t-shirt and sharing my story, I also hope to raise awareness of this charity and the vital services they provide helping other women and families know that support is out there, and that they are never alone.
Thank you so much for reading, supporting, and helping me make a difference. 💙
