The Ben Kinsella Trust is an educational charity set up following the tragic murder of Ben aged 16 in 2008. Our mission is to use the true and powerful story of Ben Kinsella to educate young people about the consequences of choices, so they stay safe and away from crime.

Story

This year it has been 16 years since we lost our little brother Ben to knife crime, which marks the heartbreaking fact that he has now been gone longer than we ever had him.

Although his legacy lives on, we would give anything to be able to say that all these years on, we are in a better place and are no longer losing our young people to this epidemic on a daily basis. But sadly we are still so far away from a world where 16 year old boys can make it safely home to their beds at night.

Ben meant everything to us and our family has never been the same since he was taken. Over the years we have climbed mountains, cycled hundreds of miles and done all we can to ensure The Ben Kinsella Trust can continue to share his story and carry out vital work to try and make a difference.

The one thing we said we would never do is run. We love Ben but we are not runners - unless it is towards a shop for Jade and a glass of wine for Brooke. But we find ourselves having lost our minds and signing up for a half marathon. We know it seems like almost everyone is doing a half marathon nowadays - and is it really that difficult? The answer is for us, god yes. So please help us to hit our target as that is what will get us to that finishing line. The money we raise could:

- Fund up to 65 young people to take part in our Choices & Consequences programme, helping them understand the real life impacts of knife crime and empowering them to make safer choices

- Support the development of educational resources, such as lesson plans that can be provided to schools for free, equipping teachers and practitioners to teach crucial know crime prevention topics

- Contribute to vital national campaigns such as Knife Crime Awareness Week which raise public awareness of the dangers of knife crime and promote safety in communities across the UK.

We know we have asked a lot over the last 16 years but we simply cannot do our work without the necessary funds and so anything you can spare at all will be so very appreciated.

Thank you - and wish us luck! Brooke & Jade xx
