Cycle ride from Lands End to John O’Groats · 9 May 2024

Since 1995 the Gwennili Trust has provided for the relief of the physically and mentally disabled, in particular ex-Service people, offering respite and educational opportunities onboard yachts. The primary beneficiaries for sail cruises are Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD) personnel and military veterans associated with Service charities.

Story

The Gwennili Trust is a charity that provides for the relief of the physically and mentally disabled, current and ex-Service people, offering respite and educational opportunities onboard yachts. I am cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats to raise money for The Gwennili Trust, from 9 - 18 May 2024 for a total distance of around 970 miles, around 100 miles per day. This is quite a tough challenge for someone approaching 59 years of age.

As a veteran of 30 years regular and reserve service in the British Army I am only too aware of the sacrifice that many fellow Service personnel have made in the defence and protection of our Nation. After many operational tours, I am fortunate to have completed my service relatively unscathed. There are a large number who have not. Many Service personnel have paid the ultimate sacrifice, even more have sustained horrific mental and physical injuries which they will carry for the rest of their lives. As well as this fund raising challenge, I am also a professional yachtsman and I give my time and expertise as a volunteer yacht skipper to The Gwennili Trust. Please support me in my goal to raise at least £2,000.00 so that we can continue to provide support to our injured Service and ex-Service personnel.

Thank you so much.
