Every day, families around the world are forced to flee their homes because of war, violence, or persecution. When they arrive here—often exhausted, traumatised, and with nothing but hope—they deserve not just safety, but welcome. Bromsgrove & Redditch Welcome Refugees (BRWR) exists to offer exactly that. We are a small, volunteer-led community group with a big belief: that every person seeking refuge should be met with kindness, dignity, and the chance to rebuild their life. Since our beginning, we’ve helped refugee families settle into our towns, access education and healthcare, learn English, find friendship, and feel a sense of belonging again. But the journey doesn’t end there. Many families carry deep wounds—loss of home, loved ones, and identity. Through practical support, community sponsorship, and compassionate connection, we walk alongside them as they take their first steps toward a new life. From collecting essential household items, to supporting school placements, to offering conversation, transport, and advocacy, every act of help makes a real difference. BRWR is powered entirely by volunteers and generosity. Every donation goes directly toward supporting refugee families—providing essentials, emergency help, integration support, and moments of joy and dignity that remind them they are not alone. By donating or fundraising, you’re helping us build a community where refugees are not just sheltered, but welcomed, valued, and able to thrive.

Story

Bromsgrove and Redditch Welcome Refugees (BRWR) is a charity made up of volunteers who support refugees in our local communities.

To mark the end of Refugee Week 2026 (June 21st) Pete, Bob and Eileen are running to raise money for the charity.

The help we offer varies from practical support such as DIY, lifts and form-filling for jobs or college places to English language teaching and sharing local knowledge. Every penny raised will help to support this work. Thank you!
