Leo, Laura and Emma's fundraiser for Birth Trauma Association (BTA)

Leo Ferdenzi is raising money for Birth Trauma Association (BTA)

Snowdonia half marathon · 10 May 2026

The Birth Trauma Association supports families affected by traumatic childbirth. We also campaign to raise awareness of birth trauma and improve training of health professionals, as well as lobbying policymakers to improve care during and after childbirth.

Story

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 runs from May 4th to May 10th. We are proud to be running on the the 10th May 2026 to raise awareness for Women and birthing people who struggle with their mental health in the Perinatal period.

We hugely value the work and support of the Birth Trauma Association in Wales and across the UK both in raising awareness, campaigning and working to support and improve parents experience of birth. They support parents - both mothers and partners - who are experiencing distress after a traumatic birth, whether that's full-blown postnatal PTSD (which affects about 30,000 women a year) or other forms of distress such as depression or anxiety. Birth trauma can be immensely difficult to live with, and parents often find there is no one they can talk to about the experience.

The North Wales Perinatal Mental Health Service is proud to be running and fundraising this year on behalf of the Birth Trauma Association. Emma and Laura are passionate members of the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) Perinatal Mental Health Service. Leo is a 19 year old student of Neuroscience and Psychology at Bristol University, who is delighted to support the work of this team that his mum also works as part of. We all have a passion for running and the unmatchable beauty of the Snowdonia mountain range.

Please support the Birth Trauma Association by giving all you can!
