Barry Town x LLamau - The Long Walk Home

Ollie Waterhouse is raising money for Llamau

Walk · 27 September 2025

At Llamau we're daring to imagine a world without homelessness. But for thousands of young people, women, and families in Wales, homelessness is a frightening reality. Your donation will help Llamau to provide life changing support to the most vulnerable people in Wales.

Story

Over 8,000 children and young people ask for help with homelessness here in Wales every year. Llamau was founded in Barry 40 years ago, to offer safe accommodation for teenagers experiencing homelessness in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Since then, Llamau’s footprint has grown widely across Wales, and they have supported over 100,000 people . In addition to offering crisis accommodation, they now offer comprehensive services including early intervention and family mediation, preventing hundreds of children and young people from reaching crisis point.

Their mission is clear: for the young people they support to thrive and not just survive. They work hard to ensure that people receive not only what they need but they truly deserve – offering them hope and giving them aspiration to rebuild their lives and move onto independent living.

The “Long Walk Home” will celebrate Barry Town’s new partnership with Llamau and will involve a celebratory walk starting from Jenner Park, via Llamau’s Barry’s Advice Centre in Holton Rd and out towards the beautiful coast-line, before looping back to Jenner Park for refreshments and the match kick off at 2.30pm.

If you wish to support this fantastic charity and the club’s new partnership with Llamau, please join us on September 27th – meet at 10 am in Jenner Park Barry, for a 10:30am start.
