Story

Assalamu’alykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. (Peace, Mercy and Blessings of God be upon you).

We hope you and your family are in good health in this month of fasting, generosity and mercy which is Ramadan.

Families in Gaza are in urgent need of food and medical supplies to improve and sustain their lives. After nearly 5 months of brutal war, many losing their lives and injured, over 1.5 million innocent civilians have been displaced from their homes mainly from Gaza City 20 miles to Rafah, South of Gaza Strip. Now they are in dire need of your support and aid this Ramadaan, with the One Ummah charity on the ground in Egypt we can support them right away.

Eight volunteers are performing a sponsored walk on Sunday 7th April 2024 to collect donations for the innocent souls caught up in this catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. We will be walking 25 miles from Loughborough to Bradgate Park and do a return journey back to Loughborough in Leicestershire in the special month of Ramadaan to symbolise the displacement of hungry and malnourished Gazans from Gaza City to Rafah which is approximately a 25 miles (40 km) walk.

Preganant women, babies, infants and the injured have made the perilous journey with scarce food, water & medicine and with plumetting temperatures causing many to lose their lives on the way. Now most of the refugess are crammed into Rafah and with shockingly lesser aid being let into Gaza through its borders than even before the war began, we cannot watch on and witness their suffering.

With no ceasefire in sight and the international community and organisations failing in their moral duties towards them we must make a collective impact and effort to be a source of support at their time of need, its the least of our moral obligations and duties we owe to our fellow human beings, brothers and sisters. Many are now losing their lives from unthinkable malnutrition in the 21st century reported by human rights groups, so we must act quickly and generously to have the strongest and lasting impact.

Donation breakdown:

£50 - Can provide life saving aid.

In this blessed month of Ramadan where deeds are multiplied manifold of times by Allah (God All-Mighty) our Lord, we ask you to dig deep for our fellow brothers and sisters. Be the answer to that prayer that they are invoking Allah of every second and minute of the day.

If you are unable to donate a large amount every penny or pound still counts towards aiding those in vitally in need of food, medicine & shelter and should not be belittled so please donate what you can and share this cause with others.

The Prophet of God, Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Allah (subhanahu wa ta’la) said: ‘O Son of Adam, spend and I shall spend upon you!‘“

(Hadith Qudsi)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "When a man (or woman) dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity), knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him."

(Saheeh Muslim)

"The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing."

Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah (2:261)

"Those who spend their wealth [in Allah's way] by night and by day, secretly and publicly - they will have their reward with their Lord. And no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve."

Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah (2:274)

We will also provide proof of the walk being done for those who would want that. If you donate beforehand we will be putting up pictures of the walk on our JustGiving profiles as proof that the 20 mile walk has taken place. You may also mention your donation amount and donate after the walk has taken place if the donation amount is over £100 and we will contact you after the walk. InshaAllah.

May Allah accept our fasts, charity and prayers in this blessed of months and make it a means for us to enter into Jannathul Firdaus (The Highest Paradise), Aameen.
