Urgent Support Needed for Burkina Faso School

Keith Smith is raising money for Acacia Partnership Trust
APT works with churches in Burkina Faso, West Africa, to bring God's blessing to their communities through church planting, education, poverty relief, and community development.

Story

UPDATE Thank you! We have now received enough to rebuild the kitchen and store, and to provide more grants and meals.

Any extra funds received will go towards further support for school lunches and grants for needy children in the future.

APT continues to support the school we helped build in Burkina Faso. However, recent circumstances have raised some extra needs:

1. The kitchen and store, originally built with mud brick have finally collapsed after many years. Cost of rebuilding in cement: £4,800

2. Because of the security situation, many parents cannot work, and cannot afford to pay school fees. This means also that there is not enough money to provide all the midday meals for primary school children. Cost of grants and meals: £2,200.

Total: £7,000. Anything you can do to help would be much appreciated.

Background:

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. (Nelson Mandela)

Christian schools in Burkina Faso provide quality education for the poorest and most vulnerable sector of society. The schools we support are recognised as top primary schools in their region.

They are run by the national church, but are open to all, regardless of religion, race, or sex. They offer hope for the future to marginalised families, through academic rigour and the transforming grace of the gospel of Christ.

APT subsidises the school running costs to ensure its life-changing impact to future generations. In particular, this support will be used to:

* Subsidise poor students school fees.

* Ensure pupils receive a meal at midday.

This support costs us about £5,000/year. This is about £15/pupil/year to help ensure a quality education for the poorest.

Thank you for any help you can give.
