Team: Butt 2 Barra 2026 fundraising for Crossroads Lewis

Butt 2 Barra · 1 July 2026

Crossroads Lewis is a registered charity providing regular carer respite to those caring for a loved one at home. Our aim is to value carers, to give them time to themselves e.g. to attend appointments, socialise or rest. Crossroads helps to prevent carers from becoming ill through exhaustion.

Story

4 of our finest athletes from Stornoway RFC’s men’s team will be taking part in this years edition of the 3 day Butt 2 Barra cycle.

Despite being built more for scrums than saddles, we’ll be attempting to pedal the full length of the Western Isles powered mainly by caffeine, stubbornness, perhaps the odd carbonated beverage and whatever’s left of our knees.

Training has consisted mostly of talking about training, the odd jolly out the Pentland road, and convincing ourselves that “it’ll be fine on the day”. It probably won’t be.

We’re doing it to raise money for a great cause, so any donation — no matter how small — would be massively appreciated and will help keep us going when the headwinds inevitably humble us somewhere between islands.

The 4 thoroughbreds taking on the challenge are James Clark, Mike Schouten, David Campbell and Callum ‘Munch’ May.

Any donations, and prayers, would be hugely appreciated 🚴🍻
