Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page.
MacMillan is a really important charity and cause for us. The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, and every one of them needs the best support to meet their unique needs.
That's why Macmillan will do whatever it takes to help everyone living with cancer across the UK get the support they need right now and transform cancer care for everyone who will be diagnosed in the future.
In the past we've completed a whole array of the MacMillan "Mighty Hikes" series - ranging from the Norfolk Coast to the mountains of the Eryri National Park.
This time we're upping the ante.
Instead of doing a marathon distance, we'll be doing an ultra-marathon. With a distance of 35 miles (over 50km!) we're taking on Buxton to Sheffield. This route starts with a short drop into Earl Sterndale (taking in the Dragon's Back!) before ascending through the very heart of the Peak District National Park through well known hamlets/villages such as Blackwell, Miller's Dale, Great Hucklow and Bamford before making the climb up Stanage Edge and back to Sheffield. With around 1,000 metres of incline it's a tough route!
Most people do this hike in 3-4 days, so naturally we'll be doing it all in one big go for MacMillan!
If you can spare any pennies or pounds, please do donate to this challenge and get behind us!
Thank you for all of your support as always,
Mary and Tom x
