The Big North Charity Van Wash · 5 July 2023

Our charity has been set up in memory of our beautiful daughter Sophie Robinson who passed away in January 2016 after a courageous 2 yr battle with a brain tumour, in them 2 years she managed to raise over 40 thousand for Children's Brain Tumour Research Centre in Nottingham with the help of her army Through Sophie's Cancer Journey on Facebook doing many events. Sophie had one wish and that was for nobody else to go through what she did, sadly we cant promise this but we promised Sophie that we as a family will help others in a different way by providing free holidays to children with cancer under the age of 18 years. Allowing the family's to make special memory's like we did back in 2015 when we was given a weeks holiday through Ben's Den. Our charity will provide holidays from the static vans that will be placed at the Haven site Golden Sands in Mablethorpe Lincolnshire where we created lasting memory's with Sophie. So please dig deep and get behinds us so we can help other families create them special memory's

About Sophie's Journey

Sophie’s Journey was set up in memory of our daughter, Sophie Robinson from Lincoln, who sadly passed away in January 2016, aged 12, after a two-year battle with medulloblastoma – an aggressive tumour in her brain.

Using our two dedicated caravans at Golden Sands Holiday Park in Mablethorpe, we provide free holidays to Lincolnshire children living with cancer and their families.

We run the charity to fulfill our promise to Sophie to make a positive difference to those going through a similar experience and give them the same opportunity we had to enjoy a holiday and create special memories together.

Our first caravan was opened in March 2017 and features a twin bedroom, double bedroom, plus an open plan living/kitchen area and family bathroom, while our second caravan is fully adapted for children who have extra mobility needs owing to their treatment.

We officially opened this in April 2018, after reaching our fundraising target earlier that year.

The charity also exists to continue Sophie’s efforts to provide comfort and support to children enduring cancer treatment via a dedicated page on Facebook. This was created after Sophie had undergone brain surgery and was due to begin treatment; she wanted to understand what to expect from it but couldn’t find any sources on the internet that answered her questions.
