Kehinde and Leeanne are raising funds for Black Women Rising as we train and run the London Marathon in April 2025.

Established in 2019, Black Women Rising UK is the flagship programme of registered UK based charity, The Leanne Pero Foundation that offers culturally sensitive support, information and advice, for women of colour who have had a cancer diagnosis.

Leeanne's Story:

This April, I will be lacing up my running shoes to take on the London Marathon again, a challenge that holds a very special place in my heart as I raise money for Black Women Rising. This incredible organisation offered me unwavering support throughout my own breast cancer journey in 2020 and 2021, providing a safe space to share, heal, and connect with others who truly understood what I was going through. Now, I want to give back to ensure they can continue their vital work, empowering and supporting Black women affected by cancer. Every step

I take will be in gratitude for the strength they gave me and in hope for those who may need their support in the future.

Kehinde's Story:

When I got cancer in 2022, I just wanted to be healthy. I made a vow that if I survived, I wanted to be the strongest version of myself I could be and I would be the voice I didn’t have.

Black Women Rising was the voice I didn’t have through the pain, the tears and the struggle. Having come through that, my gratitude has led me to give back to them by taking on my next biggest challenge- London Marathon 2025. I hope this serves to raise awareness, effect change and remind myself that I am more than my cancer.

The mental and physical strength required to fight cancer is next to none and the marathon will represent the true power that I now embody.
