Throughout 2026 BYK Widnes will be fundraising for Bone Cancer Research Trust - 'BCRT'

Our main fundraising event for 2026 is the 84-mile, 3-day walk along the Welsh Coastal Path from Abersoch to Pennal. A team of 9 walkers and 2 supports will aim to walk close to 30 miles each day 6th-8th August.

The charity was chosen through a nomination and voting process to become the site charity of the year. It was nominated by someone who's sibling has been supported by the BCRT during her fight against primary bone cancer. She underwent major surgery to remove the 5cm tumour from her spine in March 2025 and is still benefitting from the support of the BCRT including attending events in the local area.

Bone cancer brings heartbreak and devastation to hundreds each year. Too often, patients reach the end of current treatment options with no further hope.

While other major cancer charities often overlook bone cancer, the Bone Cancer Research Trust is the leading UK charity funding research into this brutal disease – thanks to the generosity of its supporters.

With continued investment, they’ll find new treatments and, one day, a cure for all. Until then, they’re here for everyone affected, offering support, trusted information, and hope.
