Story
Nicol of Skene are proud to support Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) as our Charity of the Year for 2026, chosen in memory of Jude MacDonald.
Jude was a thoughtful, kind and gentle 16-year-old from Westhill whose sudden passing on 1 January 2023 from a rare cardiac condition changed the lives of all who knew and loved him. His family have created a memorial fund to support CRY’s mission to reduce young sudden cardiac death by providing free cardiac screenings for young people aged 14–35.
If we can raise £7,000, we can help screen 100 young people—starting in Westhill and expanding across Aberdeen and the Shire—to identify hidden heart conditions and potentially save lives.
By donating, fundraising, or sharing this page, you are helping honour Jude’s memory and supporting a cause that will make a real difference in our local community.
Be Thoughtful. Be Kind. Be Like Jude.
Thank you for your support.
Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.
By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
