Team 'One's Enough' - National 3 Peaks Challenge for 'Give A Kidney'

Carolyn and Friends is raising money for Give a Kidney CIO

The National 3 Peaks Challenge · 22 May 2026

There are almost 7,000 people on the NHS waiting list for a kidney transplant. Most of us have two healthy kidneys & need only one, so we aim to raise awareness of non-directed living kidney (or 'altruistic') donation and meet our vision of 'no waiting for a transplant for want of a kidney'.

Story

Last year we completed the Welsh Three Peaks for Kidney Research UK. This year we're going National for 'Give A Kidney'

Starting at the foot of Ben Nevis on Friday 22nd May, Team 'One's Enough' (https://www.onesenough.co.uk/) are attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge. We will be climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England & Wales - a distance of 23miles and ascent of approximately 3000metres (within 24ish hours, including driving time)

Along the way we will be raising awareness of Living Kidney Donation, inspired by our Dan (who will need a kidney donor in the near future after beating meningitis) and the thousands of people in the UK who are waiting on the kidney transplant list.

At Scafell Pike we are being joined by Edward who is a trustee of the charity and also a living kidney donor - illustrating that you can still climb mountains and live a full and active life after donating a kidney.

Also, along the way we will be sharing 281 'spare' kidneys, handcrafted by the lovely ladies from Yarnmongers in Pontyclun (as seen recently on ITV Wales) These represent the 281 people currently on the NHS kidney transplant list in Wales. These will have our 'One's Enough' badges attached designed to spark conversation around the subject.

We would be extremely grateful if you could support us by donating to this amazing charity and visiting our website to learn more about living kidney donation:

EVERYONE CAN HELP BY SPREADING OUR MESSAGE THAT 'ONE'S ENOUGH' SO THAT WE CAN REACH THOSE WHO MAY CONSIDER THE POSSIBILITY OF 'SHARING THEIR SPARE' AND GIVING THE GREATEST GIFT
